What we Offer
(One-on-One Tutoring vs Classroom Learning)
We've come to believe, over years of experience in education, that one-on-one tutoring is a much more relaxed and effective way to learn than classroom instruction. We've found that a lot of students decide they can't succeed in a class when it's really just that:
The pace is too fast
The teaching style doesn't suit them
They don't have a context for the material that makes sense to them
They can't get their questions answered or
They feel too self-conscious and anxious in the classroom to focus on learning
The most important thing We do in a tutoring session may be to set a relaxed tone in which students feel free to be themselves, make mistakes, ask questions and therefore learn! We do this by having a sense of humor, being authentic, and understanding the students need .
From that as a starting point, and drawing on our experience in and out of the classroom, We can then :
Exactly tailor our explanation for that student
Go at the student's individual pace , as slow or as fast as needed
Place the material in the big picture , allowing the student to make sense of it and answer the question “Why am I learning this?”
Answer all the student's questions.
Approaching a topic this way can be vital to a student's self-confidence, attitude towards a subject, and grades. |
